Hosted by Refugees & Mentors CIC, this role will support highly skilled refugees based in Manchester to compete in the local labour market and use their valuable experience.
We Love MCR Charity is proud to be able to bring together two organisations, in Action For Humanity (AFH) and Refugees & Mentors CIC (R&M), making significant impacts globally and within Greater Manchester respectively.
AFH, an international NGO with over 11 years’ experience of responding to crises and emergencies, generously donated £10,000 to We Love MCR with the aims of supporting the refugee community living in Manchester.
Using our years of experience and co-operative working across the city to put the funding to best use, we worked with R&M to create a vacancy for a part-time Employment Worker role within their successful ‘Returner Project’.
R&M support refugees, people seeking asylum and vulnerable migrants to improve their employment prospects. The Returner Project for refugee professionals is a prime example of this, supporting 'work ready' skilled engineers, architects, business services, IT and telecoms professionals to gain paid professional experience in the UK so they can return to the career they worked in prior to being forced from their home country.
Amanda Littlewood, Project Manager at Refugees & Mentors said:
"We are delighted to begin our partnership with We Love Manchester and incredibly grateful for the support of Action for Humanity. This will strengthen our Returner Project's support for refugee professionals and for employers' recruiting inclusively. Our overall aim is that this results in more experienced and qualified professionals joining the local workforce"
People with lived experience as a refugee are strongly encouraged to apply for this role. Full info is in the role profile below, and the closing date is 9.30am 12th June.
We look forward to providing updates on the outcomes of this life-changing project!
