Community projects We Love MCR funded in June!

Each month, our Trustees come together to award grants from our two core funds. The 'Stronger Communities Fund' (SCF), where we seek applications from community groups looking to make a difference in their area, and the 'Manchester's Rising Stars Fund' where we award grants supporting ambitious young Mancunians.
In June, we awarded 8 SCF grants totalling £26,500! Here is the full list of those fantastic local initiatives, and we look forward to sharing further details about them with you over the month.
Project: To better resource + maintain the children's area of their community allotments.
Award: £4,000
Location: Levenshulme

Project: A festival event, in its second year, celebrating African diaspora culture in North Manchester with performances, stalls and workshops.
Award: £1,000
Location: Moston & Harpurhey

Project: The award will go towards funding their weekly dementia support group’s musical provision - for yet another year of We Love MCR funding!
Award: £4,000
Location: Longsight

Project: English classes for members of the Syrian refugee community, seeking to build relationships and integrate more successfully in Manchester.
Award: £1,615
Location: City-wide
Project: “everything, to write home about” – a series of art workshops for older local residents experiencing loneliness and social exclusion.
Award: £4,000
Location: Gorton

Project: Tai-chi classes for local residents with long term health conditions.
Award: £3,885
Location: Rusholme

Project: “Feel Good Stitch Club” – a 6 month thread journalling project for local people with mental health struggles.
Award: £4,000

Project: A year of beginners IT Courses for local residents vulnerable to isolation
