Mo’s passion for football runs deep - a top-class player when he was younger, but a potential playing career was sadly cut short by injury.
Despite this, Mo’s passion for the game and his local community led him to turn his skills towards coaching and take his FA badges, focussing on working with those in his community who cannot afford to access traditional training. Born and bred in Moss Side, he’s the oldest of 7 siblings and aims to set a positive example for them in everything he does.
The example he’s setting to his siblings and community is remarkable. As a teenager he set up his own coaching business ‘Inspire Coaching’ to, in his own words:
"Be a platform where young local young Mancunians like me can showcase their talent and develop their skills. I inspire them by going the extra mile and mentoring them."
His own mentor told us:
“Mo has been coaching different members of the community from younger to older players, and from grassroots to elite level. Through Inspire Coaching, he is becoming one of the youngest football coaches within grassroots football, whilst managing Manchester Powerhouse U19s. His coaching has even extended to some Manchester City and United players! But once again he has been doing this with limited resources and a lack of funds. He’s always gone the extra mile, hence why he has these unique relationships with so much upcoming football talent.”
After a successful application to the Manchester’s Rising Stars Fund, Mo was awarded £1,600 to take his young business to the next level. This went towards venue hire, coaching equipment, a branded uniform and a professional camera to record sessions and offer feedback to his clients.
“I would just like to say a Big Thanks to the We Love MCR Charity team. They have been so helpful and very supporting in helping my business grow, and understanding my aims and ambitions that I want to achieve as a young Mancunian born and bred and help make a big difference through football in my community and Manchester" - Mo
